monti cap and tank placement

right now i have a monti cap thats around the size of a tea plate.its right at the top of my tank with 2 175 mh.i want to reaquascape and i was wondering if i could place it closer to the bottom and if so, do u think it will change colour.it is pink in colour.thank u.

It should do fine in the lower part of the tank. It may get a little darker, closer to red, but nothing drastic.

Where is the best spot for those type of corals anyways?

Most have them near the bottom as they tend to grow horizontally and overshadow what ever is beneath them. They're hardy corals and often come from turbid waters where light penetration is somewhat inhibited. So they're lighting requirements aren't as great as other sps.
