Monti cap changing color

My monti was solid purple two weeks ago. Now its turning green!! I bought it off of a local guy ive know for a few years. The mother colany has always been purple and ive never seen any green on it. Ive had frags from it before and they stayed purple till I lost them for some reason or another. Ive not changed lighting so that's not it. But I did take my gravel out and replace it with a sand bed could that make a difference or cause it to change?

Kinda weird, have you added any Iron to your system recently? Is the health of the monti doing good? Monti's need potasium to thrive and will also give them more color in the blue and purple range.

Nope I've not added or changed anything but my sandbed. I have been doing my water changes and that's it. I'm confused on why its doing it. I did add a bubble coral and it has released some brown stuff im assuming is waste or my some zooanxthile as it is acclimating. Could that have done it?

I had a ATL pink polyp green monti turn purple LOL.. But it was because of my LEDs in my frag tank I think.. In MY DT it's green as can be in the frag tank it's bluish purple.. Back in the DT colors back up to original. Sorry off topic just thought it was funny how mine was opposite color shift.. Good luck.

Mine appears to be healthy. Its just changing colors which i didn't think they could do. I know lighting will do it from one tank to another to an extent but its been in here and purple for almost 2 weeks and the last couple days is going green

Do you dose Patasium? Monti's from my expirience do better with potasium up around 400! I actually dont test, I use my monti's looks as a test, if they start to look washed out I dose small amounts until colors are back to normal! I have had corals turn green from high dosing of Iron! Some corals do morph from tank to tank though. Good luck to ya

I don't dose anything just do water changes. I also have no idea where iron could be coming from but I don't test for it or potassium. Its colors aren't washing out it its just changing colors
