Hey all.. I have a rather large orange monti cap (volley ball sized.) The coral was mature and formed scrolling tables .. I had an issue in the tank that caused the coral to bleach out and almost completely die. A lot of the monti is now dead near the base of it.. but the top layers and out ridges are bleached but slowly regaining color.. and I mean very slowly. It has polyp extension on the outside edges. I would guess 1/3- 1/2 of the coral is completely dead...

Am I better off leaving it totally alone or removing the still living parts of the coral and starting over.

Will a scrolling type monti cap encrust back over the dead skeletal areas?

frag it, the frags will recover much faster than the whole. I have done the same after a nudi infestation.
