I have discovered monti eating nudibranchs in my tank, which is really strange because I have not added any coral to this tank in a year. Regardless, I read Eric Borneman's reefkeeping article suggesting that using 50mg/1L concentration of potassium permanganate solution will kill them as well as their eggs. I placed all montipora that could be removed from my tank into the solution for 2 hours as prescribed, and then moved them to a quarantine system. I repeated the dip a week later.
I STILL have nudibranchs on these corals, checking them today. Does this treatment actually work, or is it even more snake oil, like CoralRX, Revive, and the like (none of those dips really work - look at what's left alive and swimming in your dip container after you remove them - A LOT of things)?
Thanks for any information you can give.
