montipora question

What happens to encrusting montis when they grow towards each other and touch?
I'm adding several different ones such as pokerstar, and sunset, rainbows to my tank.
Do they fight it out to the death, resulting in the loss of both corals?
Does the faster grower simply grow over the slower grower?
Do they touch and just stop growing in that direction?

Anyone have pictures of two encrusting monti's fighting?

I've seen pics of monti caps touching and one will usually get the better of the other. The pic I'm thinking was posted on RC a while back, one cap touched the other and over the course of the day half of one was bleached out. Back to the real question.... Usually with encrusting one will grow over the other, or one can sting the other then take over.

I tried a experiment a few years ago in a 40 gallon tank where I added 4-5 different plating montis frags on the same rocks in different spots in the tank.
They pretty much grew around each other, even touching. It was pretty cool, until I added a new piece that had monti eating nudi's.

How do encrusting monti's sting each other?
Do they have sweeper tentacles?

Sting may have been the wrong wording. I'm thinking one may grow faster than the other overtaking it.

That's what I was thinking, from a single picture I've seen. But this is a new coral to me so I thought about asking before I start gluing down stuff.
I will still give plenty of growing room.
Thanks

Hi, I have a mostly Monti tank. Most of my encrusting monti usually butt up against each other, and creat a sort of no-mans white line between themselfs. Thou i do have one encrusting monti, a reverse sunset i think, that will just plow over all the other encrusting monti's. So he is on his own rock, I Have a lot of caps but he hates shade, so he does not get close to them.
