I picked up a Montpora Setosa frag yesterday
Could anyone with experience with the coral give me some feedback on placement relative to light requirements and flow? If it has lower light requirements or if intolerant to intense light I need to know.
I've had mine under an ati pm and now under gen 2 radions in a 34 Solana. If I put it too high under either it tends to turn pinkish. I keep it in the bottom half of the tank to keep the bright orange color.
Seems like these will do well all over a tank. Mine is near the bottom and has a vibrant orange/red. When I had it higher looked more pink. I use 250 watt radiums on m-80 ballasts. Both higher flow about 12" away from an mp40.
Medium to minimal flow with medium lighting seems to result in the brightest color and longer polyp extension.
I had mine higher in the tank and it faded in color. In the middle it is a ridiculous orange even under white light.
I accidentally broke a small colony in two pieces and played with placement and flow. Mine looked better low in tank with moderate flow. The other piece seems to have gotten pale being higher up with more flow.
I have 3 d120 evergrow LED's with custom layout.
thanks everyone for the feedback, it sounds like the setosa is fairly adaptable. I have it about 1/3 down in my tank, there is not much flow in the area. I'll be keeping an eye on it for any stress indicators but so far so good.
