Moon and sunrise/set simulation

I'm a bit lost here. I'm trying to achieve a soft sunrise and sunset for my tank, plus a moonlight simulation.

Currently my illumination scheme starts and ends with two non-dimmable 54W blue T5 tubes, but I feel that the light comes on and goes off a bit too sudden. Could I achieve a softer sunset and sunrise with a ProfiLux dimmable LED-Lamp bar.

I don't need the thunder storm option, so I should choose between Sunrise, Moon deep blue and Moon blue white versions.

I think the Moon blue white version would be the best choice for me?

Hi,

you need a "ProfiLux-Simu". This is a LED-lamp with blue, white and red LEDs to simulate sunset, moonlight and thunderstorms.

If you only want sunset: Obtain ProfiLux-Sunrise

Only moonlight: ProfiLux-Moon

I'm still trying to save few bucks here... Would the intensity of the ProfiLux-Moon be adequate for bluish sunset/rise?

If you want a blue the yes the BW-L is perfect, but if you want a yell then the Sunrise stick is what you require, all depends on what light you want

Why not just go with dimmable ballasts for your T5's.

Good point but wont create true sunset/moon colouration but great way of obtaining full control of your lighting enviroment

CarlC, I already have a relatively new non-dimmable light fixture so I'll have to manage with that and I'm considering the moonlight as a replacement for the dimmamble T5s. But I think a Profilux moonlight unit could also be a good addition to a dimmable T5 unit, since T5 tubes can be dimmed only to a certain treshold.

On my other tank, I have a dimmable unit from ATI and I have had problems with that. Espescially when the tubes are dimmed down to the minimum setting, in the next morning they fail to light up. Mainly ATI's stupid controller is the culprit and I'm going to swap Profilux to it's place, but dimming seems to wear tubes down quite much.

Either way, if the moonlight doesn't work with the non dimmable unit, I'll get the simulation version for it and use the moonlight with the dimmable unit. This is a win-win situation!
