Looks like he used acrylic to frame it in and give the tank a rounded shape. I am preparing to do the same thing to make a ctenophore system.

likewise joe. I saw something pretty cool and i think i'm gonna do it. some guy used a 5 gallon zephyrhills jug of water and he cut off the neck and base to fit perfectly into a 10 gallon tank making his own DIY kreisel. I was thinking about doing this and making a stand for it with a round viewing window where the "kreisel" would be and the rest of the tank wont be seen.

very interesting...

When you plumb the incoming water jet, I would make a spray bar. Use a length of 1/2" PVC with tiny holes drilled on one side. Bring it together with a T joint in the middle and attach the water supply line to that. That will give an even laminar flow of water across the entire front-to-back length of the tank. Would love to hear updates if you decide to try it

The flow in that tank is WAY WAY WAY too strong for jellies, you want just enough flow to keep them suspended off the walls.

I just added acrylic sheets to the corners to make it more "circleish". lol

How did you position the pumps for flow?

western what kind of pump do you have on that tank? im trying to gauge what would be the right gph to have on that kind of set up. I plan on using some pvc to stretch the width of the tank with small holes drilled in it to distribute flow evenly.

I used a Rio 600 pump which had a ball valve.

I know this is an old thread but I'm trying to find some moon jellyfish. I'm near the bay area does anyone know if I could collect my own?

If you catch your own jellies in the Bay Area, you will need a cold water tank for them with a chiller, which can be expensive, loud, electricity-consuming, etc.

Jellyfish Art is located in the Bay Area, they sell moon jellies.

I have a chiller from an old tank so that's why I considered the cold water type and it also seems to be the kind everyone keeps.
