moonlight and night mode not working

Hi there,
My friend bought a multicontroller a month ago from another Turkish aquarist. Although its working fine, its moonlight is not working. I am not sure if the night mode is working or not but no change seems on the controller. What might have happened?

Make sure the night mode and moonlight indicator ON at the same time. You should be able to see two red LED light if not, keep pushing the button till they turn on....

Yeah, I have the same issue.

Both lights are on and green, night mode works fine but the white moon LED will not light up.

You have to send the controller in to get it fix by Roger....

To make sure that I am clear, if both the night mode and moonlight LED are lit green and you turn all the lights off to make the room dark and the LED does not come on, then it is in need of repair? I just bought this unit and the seller thinks the unit may have to see a couple of "light cycles" before the LED will light up. Is this correct?

Can you give me any ball park idea of the costs on this type of repair??

Thanks

Cham, my moon light and night mode LED always light up. Which LED are you talking about? The one on the sensor or the one on the controller? I don't want to make a wrong recommendation... If your moon light (the one on the sensor) go bad, you will need to replace the new sensor. Contact Roger with your MFG number he should be able to let you know if your controller still under warranty

Ozadars, you can do it at home. Your Moonlight and Nightmode LED may got burned out. PM Roger and he will let you know what you will need.

The LED on the sensor, all other LED's on the control panel work just fine. Night mode works great too but I can't get the "moonlight" to come on. I imagine its a burned out LED although that is not very common.

PM Roger? What is his username?

Cham, before you PM Roger i have a few question for you. I don't think your LED burned out. May be the Moon Cycle. How old is your controller? What condition is your sensor/Moonlight? Do you notice any salt build up around the moonlight? How long have you been using the controller?

Roger username is RVitko...

Its also my moonlight, not the ones on the controller. Shouldnt the moon cycle turn back to zero when you unplug it.

That i have to ask Roger. Remember, to activate the night mode and moon light, your tank area have to be dark. Make sure both LED indicator on your controller light up....

The controller was bought used but the guy I bought it from said it was only used for about 6 months, then sat around his house for a "few months"

There is some very slight salt build up arond the moon LED but overall the sensor looks pretty good

Cham, Look like the LED is toasted. It suppose to look clear. Contact Roger and he should be able to hook you up with a new sensor and moonlight. Your setting look kinda STRANGE

You sure? It could be the funny angle.
My settings aren't being used. I have a tank on order that this will be used on.

I'll post one more pic for Roger to see and link him to this thread and see what he thinks about it too.

It looks like water got into it and corroded the contacts. Unfortunately, it is not a DIY repair but if you send it in I can replace the photocell/LED set.

Can you give me a ball park idea on repair costs? I want to let the seller know what we are looking at, he may just want it back.

Thanks
