Moonlight

I made my own LED harness and it works nice! A bit shotty and bulky because I was anxious to get it on. I've seen people use Xmas rope lights and bulbs also. I'm not sure but I think having the LED's at a fixed wavelength would be better.

I picked up some "grains of wheat" bulbs at a hobby store and hooked them up to a DC adapter. Where do you guys get your LEDs? Are they DC powered? Any idea about the light output of an LED compared to one of those tiny grains of wheat bulbs?

Doesn't the multi-color blinking all night get on the fish's nerves? :D

The LEDs are DC powered. My moon lights are part of my hoods but basically they are 5 11000 MCD blue LEDs mounted in a clear tube. You could get 50 of the LEDs on E-Bay for around $12 and build your own easily. The 5 light up my nanos nicely and make the Rics glow.

There are some lunar controllers that vary the intensity of the moonlight to simulate lunar phases and they use incandescent bulbs.
