what is the best one? i think i have a old reef bright one its like a food long and silver , its decent but to short i need something for my 36" cube any thoughts would be great thanks
I got two, of the ice caps 24 inch long ones, over my 92g tank which is 24 inch deep, and the lights are mounted over a foot above the tank. I get decent penetration, I was more looking for general illuminations and it works for me.
thanks guys i got a new 150 dd so its 36x36 -i have 2 6 bulb tek fixtures on it . the reef brites look very impressive but wicked bright. what im asking is kinda confusing so ill try to explain it the best i can . i like the color i get with the t5s but kinda want a little more pop so could the reef brite be run with my t5s to get more pop? what i usually do is turn on and off the switches one by one so its kinda a sunrise sunset effect. but i also like to have the moon light effect after the t5s go out would the reef brite be to bright for that affect? would i have to get a reef brite and the ice cap? sorry its confusing and thanks for helping
Not confusing at all. The Icecap won't pop coral colors unless it's the only light on, and not nearly as much as the RB. On the other hand, the RB will make a noticeable difference in the color of the overall lighting as well as make coral colors pop even with T5's on. They are certainly too bright to be used as moonlighting, but you can still get the sunrise/sunset effect you are after. Personally I would buy one 4' ReefBrite and go from there. You won't be disappointed!
the reefbrite will add pop when used at the same time as your T5's (i can see it add with dual 250 MH) - for moonlighting the reefbrites are way too bright.
You might need to put some thought into positioning the RB strip so it can light 36" of tank.
Do you have a picture of your tank with the T5s on it?
You guys might flame me for this, but I use the submersible LED's from Marineland for moonlight in my tank(s). They are set up to hook to an air line, and I just don't use it. They are pretty much useless when the lights are on or for supplemental, but they are awesome at night. Suction cup to the side.. its basically a 6 1watt led strip for 20 bucks or so
I have two icecaps, One on my 46g 36" and the other on my 120g 4". they both are about a foot off the water and have great spread to the bottom of the tanks. I also just added 2 1w LED's moonlights to each tank and they help during the day but it inst that noticeable, If i where you id run one RB(i might get one but expensive) and have an icecap for a moonlight.
