Moorish Idol Life Spand??

Has anyone had a Moorish Idol for more than a year,and a half,and it still looks good. I was just given one,that a friend had for about a year. I was recently told that even the major aquariums can't keep them alive for more than a year,and a half. I was told this by a man I trust completely, when it comes to reef tanks,and fish. I still think that someone out there has possibly done this,and can give me a few pointers. The Idol I have is eating everything I feed now,and I think he looks better than when I got him. Since I got him I feed the tank 5 times a day,and my other fish are not complaining. Thanks, Ted

Although I have had my Idol almost three years he is far from a perfect looking fish. His dorsal streamer is very short and he lost some of his tail. Besides that he seems very healthy. I am trying to get him to regrow his top fin as that is the best part of the fish. It may not be just food. I spent a lot of time following these fish and I still don't know the secret. I will just have to keep going to Tahiti to dive with them. Someone has to do it. :lol:

i know another guy named paul that had a idol for over 3 years. he brought it back to the lfs i work at because it is eating polyps.
