Moray Eel ID

I saw a moray eel yesterday. I didn't get a picture. It was a moray not a ribbon.

It was marked as a yellow edge moray and was very small. It doesn't look like pictures of the yellow edge moray I see online. Maybe they change colors as they age.

Ribbon eels do change color.

Unlike most other eels, ribbon eels change color and sex during their life. Juveniles and sub-adults are nearly black with a yellow dorsal fin. As they mature, a female becomes yellow with a black anal fin with white margins on the fins and the adult males are blue with a yellow dorsal fin.

So, they change from black to yellow to blue.
