More quarantine q's

So after two failures and two dead yellow tangs and reading that the tanks maybe were too small for such a species, the burning question is: what if you cant set up a larger qt?
How does one properly qt a fish when proper digs are just not a possibility?
Is there a reefer out there that does this for people?
I want that dang yellow tang and im just not willing to try to qt another. I dont know if it was an existing ailment or not but im certain that I did everything as laid out by several members and the qt thread on tank transfer.
I have already doomed two fish to their death not to mention the money on equipment, the salt needed for the 100 gallons of water used and the fish.

Quarantine doesn't necessarily mean treatment. I've quarantined many fish that showed no signs of disease in eight weeks and were transferred directly to the Display Tank without tank transfer or medication. A quarantine tank is for observation. If a fish displays signs of disease, the QT becomes a Hospital tank. I use a 12 gallon tank for quarantine. If you get a small Yellow Tang, your QT should suffice. Lastly, if tank transfer isn't working out for you, why not try copper? Cupramine seems to be the most popular brand.

I think a 12 gallon tank is pushing it. I just has a similiar problem with putting a 10 inch powder blue in a 29 gallon and he went nuts. Where are you located farmington?

I agree with Ellie, not every fish needs to be treated, especially right after purchase. When you bring the fish home, it's already been through one helluva ordeal. It needs time to relax and unwind for a bit, so I usually wait 4-6 weeks before I do ANY treatment, (unless a disease breaks out). This gives you time to fatten them up, gauge their overall well being, and to see what type of treatment you will need to do.

Once the 4-6 weeks have passed, then I usually do a Hyposalinity treatment and treat with any meds after the fact. Total time for my QT period is usually 6-10 weeks. Everyone has their own ways, mine seems a little long, but for a fish you plan to keep years and years, 6-10 weeks is a short period.

I should also add that I use a 30g long for a QT and that I keep it cycled and ready, but I don't keep it full when not in use. I lower the water level down as low as I can get it, and only keep one powerhead and a small 50w heater in there to keep the thing alive. Then when I need it, I can just top it off with some clean water, switch out the heater and it's ready to rock.

Just for the size? Im seriously not interested in trying again, but want the fish. See where im going with that.
