More RO/DI help

Ok, i got my filters and i put them all in.....now I forgot where the hoses go! :lol:

I know where the good water comes out (the Di connection)

Now there's 2 more hoses, and 2 more connections.


I have a connection at the membrane...... and a connection that comes out from the carbon.


The hoses left are the water input and the waste water.

God I wish I had a photographic memory.

It's a 4 stage I suppose.

Micron and carbon are vertical beneath the membrane and the DI at the top, both of these are horizontal.

The input (supply) water coming from your plumbing goes to the "in" port on the right hand vertical housing (your sediment filter).

The waste water tube attached to one of the fittings at the end of the RO housing. One of these two fittings (the one near the center of the end) goes to your DI. Attach your waste water tube to the fitting that is near the edge of the end of the RO membrane housing.

For a upgrade of that system, think about a full size, vertical, refillable DI stage.

Thanks Russ. Got it all figured out. I'm going to look into what's more pocket friendly. Either a new horizontal DI or a vertical DI addon. And if the difference isn't great i'll get the vertical addon.

Get the vertical add-on unit with the a bag of the refillable bulk di. The other is good for 50 gallons max before they start channeling and letting tds through. Basically useless.

Jeff...one thing that bothers me about that setup...the DI housing isn't clear and is horizontal. Clear would allow the use of color changing DI and mounting it vertically helps reduce channeling. I have a double DI on mine with clear housings and mounted the DI chambers so that water enters from the bottom and exits from the top...I did this to both chambers and the difference was great in allowing the DI to last longer. No channeling and it works great.

I agree with getting the bulk DI from Russ...I just got mine from them as well as a 50gpd Filtec cartridge and the chlorine guzzler carbon. Russ is great to work with, awesome shipping and service.

Really fast shipping! FWIW the color really does match the tds very well but I'd still get a dual inline tds meter just so you can get used to the color associated with when the tds rises to 1. After a few rounds of di resin, you'll have it where if the tds meter broke, it wouldn't matter because you're good at eyeballing the resin. It's not quite fully orange when it's exhausted but pretty close. I guess almost a dirty orange is a better description.

Hey Jeff, if you can hold off for a month or so, I've got a 6 stage RO/DI that I'll sell you very very cheap. TDS on it right now is @ 14. It just needs the DI resin replaced. I'm buying a newer one and I've offered this one to Lonnie but his is fine and Rich1972 doesn't need one. I won't be using it much at all right now and you cant test it when you come to pick it up. Oh yea I bought it last year in Feb.
