more skimmer sweat

ok, so now that I cleaned out my skimmer, it is making too much wet skimate

it fills the entire cup up in less than 24 hours with barely dirty water

my riser tube is all the way down

do I have to put something under it to prop it up a little?

or do I just need to wait for it to gunk up again?

That would work but has it worked fine previously at the level that it is currently at?

I wouldn't wait for it to gunk up.

yeah, it was working great exactly how it is now

then the neck got all gunked up, so I cleaned it and RAISED the riser tube

then it was way too wet, so I lowered the tube and it was still too wet, so I lowered it all the way and now its still too wet

Could it be that you have enough junk in the water that it's working correctly?

I've seen skimmer run like that when the water is REALLY dirty.

Try raising the skimmer up and letting it run for a while. If it still pulls a lot of skimmate then maybe your water is plenty dirty.

that is possible, however the skimmate is pretty light in color

Leighton, if tha is the case, you might always get the wet skim. A 5000 is alot of pump for a 5 series body. I'd let it gunk up a bit and see what happens.

yeah, that's what IM doing

IM gonna try to put some eggcrate underneath it to effectively "lower the water level" and see if that dries it up a little bit

I had that exact skimmer body and ran the 5000 pump but the neck was modded with a 7 inch acrylic extension and it worked really well. If you want to borrow it and try it you are more than welcome. It is the whole cup, neck and union. If you like it I would gladly accept a $10 McDonald gift card

so what is the total height from the union to the top of the cup
