Mounting a wavebox with a canopy?

I am just about ready to plumb my new tank, and start adding water. Today I decided to dry fit some of the components and decided to start with the wavebox. I am planning to use two magnet holder because I am going to use a canopy so the included bracket hardware will not work (the canopy rests on the tank rim.) After setting this up, I think I might still have a problem. I had the tank custom made by Lee Mar per Roger's specs (overflow centered, and teeth lowered an extra inch to allow lower water level to accomodate the wavebox.)
Anyway, as you can see from the pictures, I in order to keep the top one inch or so above the water level it looks like I might still have a problem with the canopy.

Am I missing something or will I need to cut out part of the canopy where it rests on the rim of the tank?

Hi,

Try using the suction cup (there is only one) included in your wavebox for the top magnet, it seems to work well for me. Best, Thieu

Awesome, thanks, Thieu! Have you found that the bottom magnet, with the suction cup alone is strong enough to hold the wavebox in place?

It will work as Thieu described but I would at least add a second suction cup, they come in packs of 3 or packs of 4. It will work but it is safer to have the second magnet holder so whenever possible we suggest using two. If you use suction cups keep up with them and change them as needed as the wavebox is subjected to a lot of force and must be securely mounted.

Do you think there are any other options besides relying on the suction cups? I suppose I could try to attach the second magnet to the wavebox between where the two magnets would normally go (to the middle instead of the top), but I hate to glue anything.

You may be able to screw the magnet on with the screws in the little threaded holes. Just run the screws through the eyelets in the mag holder. A quick tip for this is use a tab from a coke can as a screwdriver. I actually bought an aluminum screwdriver for this job as that is how the nano reefpack is attached to the magnet holder and it will drive you nuts to constantly have the magnet holder take away your screwdriver.

It doesn't look like the holes for the screws line up with the eyelets on the magnet holder (the holes on the wavebox are wider.) Are the larger magnet holders the exact same size as the smaller magnet holders (I don't have the model numbers in front of me right now)? I had ordered the smaller magnets, but my new tank was built with 1/2" glass instead of the 3/8" I anticipated, so I have the larger ones on the way. Likes like I may be running out of options and have to either glue a magnet to the box, or drill new holes? Do you think I have any other options?

The magnets are physically identical. I would just carve the holes over slightly on the magnet holder with a dremel. You can do this so long as you don't cut into the magnet casing itself.
