Mounting automatic feeder on a closed tank

Hi,

I have a 60g cube tank (rimless) that is currently covered with the typical diy netting kit. I want to make a cover with a slot to fit the Eheim automatic feeder. Has anyone done something similar or is anything available to purchase?

arvind.

I recently installed the same feeder on my cube using a piece of acrylic (5"x5") on the rear corner of the top rim using some double sided tape. The feeder sits on it securely. I also directed one of my two returns toward the feeder to propel the food toward the front glass away from the overflow. Works well for me.

Do you have your cube covered? The challenge I am facing is how to cover the aquarium using netting material (not canopy) while still be able to use an automatic feeder.

I have both 1/4" netting and an automatic feeder (Apex AFS). I mounted mine upside down on the underside of my canopy.

Did you make a slot in your 1/4" netting for the feeder to drop the food into the tank?

What kind of food do you use?

I use pellets and just let them drop thru the net. I have a eurobraced acrylic tank so the feeder just sits on the eurobrace.

I use flakes. I guess I can use pellets and see if it drops through the net. I am also looking for a way to make a slot in the netting so I can create an acrylic holding place to keep the feeder on.

Thank you for your response.

As long as the flake is kind of small it will work. On tanks that I feed flake to I just crush it up a bit. It seems to flow thru the feeder better.

The feeder can sit right on the screen. If you want you could just put a piece of acrylic under it to spread the weight out.
