i recently moved my 90 gal reef from ny to denver (about 1800mi), it was not fun
most of the move focused on getting my livestock (liverock, three small fish, and some of my soft corals, and inverts) out here - amazingly the only thing that i lost was my cleaner shrimp, all corals and fish made it
best advice would be make the trip in the shortest amount of time
other then that i just made sure that when we stoped to sleep I brought the container with my fish and corals into the hotel and did a water change, and hooked up an air pump and powerhead for some circulation - i moved in august so luckily heating the water wasnt really a problem the water stayed around 75 deg
a great way to do a water change is to buy those pre-mixed juggs of saltwater, that way you dont have to mess around with mixing, there pricey but darn handy when your on the road
the worst part is when you actually arive b/c you cant relax, i set up a 30 gal that i brought with me (i stored my lr in there for the trip out) and put the rock in it and set up some power filters, i got the fish and corals in there as quick as possible w/o shocking them
everything has done great w/o any problems - i actually had a purple psuedo survive that stowed away in the live rock container which stayed in the back of my truck for 2 days w/o any water changes or heat
good luck, it is not a fun experience but it is always well worth it, it is hard to get rid of your saltwter buddies
by the way, i plan to sell this tank with as much of the livestock as possible before i move home -- one move was enough!
