Moving 180 stocked tank?

I will be moving about 5 hours away and wondered what others experience has been.

I am going to move the tank contents into a 110 for a few days so I can get the tank moved and set up at the new house. The live rock will go into a barrel with a powerhead.
I have a 180 dt, a 150 rubbermaid sump and a 20 gallon refug.

What are your thought on storing and moving tank water? How long can it go without circulation and heat? What the min temp that it can withstand. Is it worth trying to move more or less water?

I have a power inverter and air pumps for the fish so I think they should move in buckets ok.

Since I have a very shallow sand bed, several huge cucumbers and several dozen nassarius snails, I was planning on rinsing in tank water and keeping most of the sand.

Any and all experience and opinions will be appreciated.

Thanks

I have no answers for you but I'm going to tag along on this thread. I've been looking at used 180-240 tanks and I may end up coming across a fully stocked one. Research, research, research. :spin2:

Water... Can you make more and have it there when you get there?

In general MOST (not all) bacteria and items are not in the water column compared to what is on the rock. Just think of it is a LARGE water change. AS LONG AS THE PARAMETERS are the same (minus nitrate nitrite and phosphate)

The problem with most water is circulation and oxygenation. The circulation is the more important. But there are no inhabitants in the water so it is not bad.

It would be better to move less, less what the fish and LR are in (ohh and the LS)

Be careful rinsing the sand and where it is being rinsed as you can cause little cycle if too much is gone (one way or the other)

I would maybe try to keep most of it in the rubbermaid sump and transfer it when you get there, depending on what is in the sump.
