moving a carpet

I currently have my blue haddoni anemone in my 2 year old 120. However I need to move and wont have room for the 120 in my new place. However I want to keep my carpet.

My question is, what size tanks do other people keep these in? All I plan to keep with it is a pair of clowns.

Also if I buy new sand and move old rock over to the new, smaller tank and add a handful of old sand will the anemone be ok?

Thoughts?

I'm sure as long as it has plenty of room to spread out, depending on the size of the nem, a tank half that size would probably be fine. (don't know if I'd go smaller though). Moving it is no big deal. All new Haddoni's find themselves in new surroundings and most survive fine. As long as it's really healthy now, you're in good shape.

I was leaning towards a 52 gallon corner tank or a 40 gallon breeder. I would rather a deep tank then a tall tank. Makes for nicer aquascapes.

Why do you want to buy new sand? Just use what you need of your old sand and toss the rest. Save you money and less likely to get a cycle. If you want, rinse the sand in some saltwater to clean some detritus out.

Cheers
Mike

the sand in my 120 is probably 3 years old, I gave it a quick rinse when I setup my 120. Its fairly shallow and I have alot of sand moving critters so rinsing it would probably be fine.

There is a 50G Breeder as well but both the 50G and 65G have center braces that will block light.

Im not to worried about center braces blocking light. I have an LED fixture I made that is made up of 2 heat sinks and 72 LEDs so if I need to space the heat sinks out a bit to keep from having a shadow in the middle so be it.

I just need to decide if I am going to move my pair of GSM clowns or not. I love the look of them in the blue anemone but they sure more alot of sand.
