Moving large glass tank

In 2 weeks time I will be needing to move my 300g (96x31.5x24.5 3/4" glass) off a truck into another truck and then from the second truck to my house. I won't have access to any kind of machine lift or anything.

I will have probably 6-10 people including myself.

What is the best method of moving the tank? Someone in my club suggested strap webbing like what's found here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...TF8&coliid=I3MNKAC79AFJRE&colid=2NTA9MA81MG7V

I'd like to use Wood's Powr-Grips, but they are quite expensive at about $65 each since I would need probably at least 6-8 (Assuming the tank is about 800-900lbs).

My other concern is getting it onto the second truck. Would it be a bad idea to use wooden dowels to kind of roll the tank into the truck? That way it'd be easier to roll the tank back out too.
Either a bunch of dowels or a hardwood furniture dolly.

Or if this is all dumb, please help me out!

I contacted one before, and they wanted $45 for each suction cup. That's more than 2/3 the cost of one for a day... So I guess I lost hope.

No harm is looking into other places I guess. thanks.

Try the glass shops, mine wouldn't rent them out because of previous damage history, but you may get lucky. Also could check with LFS that does installs. I found one that had a set of 4 who let me borrow them.

Also apparently the same product on ebay... 2 for $29 shipped and shipping savings if multiples are bought...
So I can get 6 for $77 shipped or 8 for $101 shipped.

I rented suction cups. 100% worth it.

Dont put the tank on any kind of dolly while in transit. Its bound to get loose and smash itself into something.

Thanks, that's what I figured.

I'm using 8 guys with furniture straps 900# tank. For truck to ground drop we are using a flat bed tow truck. Just pallet jack it on the the flat bed and then lower the bed to the ground and winch it down. Sounds easy....we will see....lol

I hired movers for my 265, they showed up with their own equipment. I sat back and watched them bust their but. Best money I ever spent.

For my 600- i carried it over my head by myself...

No but seriously- a little planning will make your life a lot easier. We literally just had 8 guys lifting that suck with our bare hands. Not a good idea because of slipping etc. Suction cups work well- ive used those recently to help people and straps do too. So i guess its a matter of how much you want to spend.
