I messed up and let some algae grow over my maxi mini's old spot so it started crawling around and now its on my tank glass. how can I get it off and get it to stick to a rock? its pretty high up on the glass so I dont think I can prop up a rock and let it move on its own.
I find that tickling the bottom an anemone's foot until they let go is the best way to just remove them from where they are. Although it might take a while, it will not harm the anemone at all if done right. You do it by gently scraping your fingers on the glass next to the anemone's foot and then slowly prying the anemone up off of the glass while still tickling it's foot. Sorry for the bad explanation but I don't know how else to :hmm5:.
thanks, that actually makes perfect sense. how long does it take? like a minute? or 20 minutes? i just want to get a sense of how patient i need to be. and would an old credit card be a good tool for this?
When I move my maxis I go for the trusted credit card. Try not to damage the foot but to be honest, don't worry too much. Pretty indestructible. I've torn some when the rock the were attached to broke and thy almost got torn in half. I've received some as doughnuts where there was a hole straight through the foot and mouth. All have bounced back no problem in a couple weeks.
depending on how much the anemone wants to let go, what surface it's on, and how big the anemone is, it has taken me anywhere from 1 minute to 20 minutes. If it's on the glass it and it's small it will probably be about 1-5min, but TAKE YOUR TIME.
