Moving my tank. A few questions..

Hi! I've had a 10 gallon for a year. I picked up a 35 gallon and want to move everything into the new tank. I'm not sure how to do it.
Here's what I think...
Set up the new tank with new live sand, mix about 25 gallons of new water and add my current filter to the new tank. Slowly start adding all the water from my 10 gallon into the 35. Move rocks in. Move fish, coral, etc..
Can I use a brand new filter on the tank? As my 10 gallon filter isn't powerful enough. Or should I use it to help populate bacteria in the tank.
Will my new tank cycle from the new live sand? Should I use some of the old sand?
I don't plan on adding any new rocks for a while.
Am I on the right track? [emoji3]
Sorry for all the questions.. really don't want to screw things up or lose anything.
Tia.

Also.... what kind of sand do yall recommend??? I used fine (sugar) send in my 10 gal and really didn't like it as it looked dirty almost all the time! Poop everywhere :( but it's so natural looking.

Medium grade aragonite, CaribSea. As your pumps get stronger, sand starts to walk. Not good.
Put all your critters into qt to hold them while the new tank has a five-day cycle---they often do when disturbed. Put everything but the fish over, and it should be fine. Test daily for ammonia, and figure it will appear and go fast.
