MP20 arrived damaged.

Hello. My MP20 just arrived in the mail today and it arrived with a bent pin spacer. I read and commented on another member's thread who bent his pin spacer b/c he wasn't careful with it, so that's actually the first thing I looked at when I opened the package. When I looked at the dry side of the pump, something looked out of place. This is what it looked like straight out of the box:

It looked kind of odd to me, and when I opened it up I realized it was one of the pin spacers - bent straight out of the box. I was confused at first, b/c I thought the "pins" were thin pieces of metal b/c of the warning that they would be bent easily.

Also, when I looked at the driver I noticed that the wires were exposed. This isn't as big of a concern to me as the bent pin spacer, but I figured since I'm likely going to have to have the pin spacer replaced, I may as well see what can be done about the driver. If I push the wires up into the unit they will stay if left alone, but slip right back out when I touch it. Here's a pic:

I just wanted to know what I should do. Because the pin spacers aren't under warranty, I wanted to make sure to report this to you and not even try to set this thing up yet. Should I send it back to where I ordered it from and ask for a whole new replacement, or should I send it to you? Thanks in advance for your help. Overall, I am extremely impressed by the quality of this product and how well-built it appears to be - I guess I just got unlucky with that pin spacer and wires. Thanks again!

if you bough it brand new and it arrived in brand new/sealed condition; this is ecotech fault. They should take care of it for you.

I don't see any problem with the wire, but the spacer should be an issue down the road

Yeah, I wasn't too worried about the wires - but I am very worried about the bent pin. It was definitely this way out of the box, it was the first thing that I checked. I am really kind of bummed about the whole situation b/c I paid for this pump in the middle of July (pre-order) and had to wait almost an extra month for it to arrive because of the delay. It would have been delivered yesterday (Friday), but I wasn't home to sign for the package. I woke up today and the first thing I did was go to the post office to pick up the package. I rushed home, opened it, and then noticed the bent pin. I know the pins aren't covered under the warranty, but I hope something can be done. I don't know if EcoTech only does random quality control inspections, but I would think they would check to make sure that the parts that aren't covered under the warranty aren't defective before shipping them.

is the pin broken ? or it's just bent ? can you take it out and un bent it ?

I don't think it's that easy to break off.

It is just bent. I'm sure I could try and bend it to fit into the hole, but I'd rather wait and see what EcoTech has to say. Because this part of the pump is not under warranty, I don't even want to touch the thing until EcoTech responds. Like I said, it was like this out of the box...if I had bent it out of carelessness, I would be messing with it as we speak and just order a new pin spacer. I just hate to spend so much money on something that doesn't arrive in close to perfect condition. I don't even care about the wire issue, b/c I can easily fix that myself (and it isn't uncommon for ballasts, etc... to arrive with wires exposed). I'm just hoping I can get a new pin spacer.

Please email us at service@ecotechmarine.com and we'll send you a new pin spacer out right away! The grommet thing is not really much of an issue. Sometimes they get pulled out during shipping because the cord is pulled at an awkward angle. Just push the wire back into the grommet.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, I wasn't too worried about the wires b/c I've received products before where that has happened. I'll e-mail you right away. I really appreciate the quick response.

Hi Tim. I sent an e-mail to the address you provided on August 11 and I haven't heard back yet or received a new pin spacer. I was just wondering what the status of this "transaction" was. I e-mailed using an AOL e-mail address and I know sometimes people having problems receiving AOL e-mails, so I just wanted to make sure that wasn't a problem. Thanks again!

I sent an email awhile ago also. never heard from then. I just sent a different one today lets hope i get some kind of response. I have heard nothing but great things about there customer service

Icecap had been doing the service from the beginning until recently. I believe EcoTech took over service around the first of the month. Icecap has always had a solid reputation for outstanding customer service. Give them time to adjust, I am sure they are working on your issue.

We responded to your email on the 12th but did not hear back from you. However, I have reviewed the correspondence and see that Eric asked you a question which you had already answered in your original email. I will see to it that your pin spacer is shipped out immediately.

I guess my crappy AOL email account blocked the email b/c I never saw it. Sorry for causing any confusion. Thanks again!
