MP40 and MP10 both stopped working

I had a little spill and both controllers were splashed, neither were hooked up as both wet sides had come off during the week so I unplugged them until doing maintenance yesterday. So got everything done and spilled a bit of saltwater on them which immediately dried.
Could being splashed with water really fry them? I mean these are meant to be around water and we're not submerged...
MP10 will not run, have gone through hard reset of pressing mode and power then Mose then set and power a few times though flashing light colors did not match the online video with older white controllers.

Same with MP40 except as I was going through the reset motions it began to get hot and smoking

Any thoughts?

If your controllers have come in contact with water, they will need to be replaced. For more information on purchasing new controllers, please see the following link: https://store2.ecotechmarine.com/

Thanks Alex.

I don't see controllers at the link, but assume the electronics that come in an "upgrade" kit should fix them?

I would suggest that future models be somewhat water resistance though if I had the controller hangers I see at the link this would not have happened

I flooded a couple a few years back. One did the whole smoking thing and was shot. The other was off, so took it apart, completely dried it out and it was fine.
