MP40 or XF250 Gyre Pump

I know there's lovers for each product, but i've already spent a lot on this system and if possible buy only one of this powerbeads. The reason I choose these two is to keep the inside of the tank to look clean and i have some Jaebo that work great now on my current tank i want to move on to this look. It's going to be a 6 foot long tank, 28" deep and 24" high. Since it's going to be a mixed reef I'm thinking about putting the SPS closer towards the powerbeads for the flow that they need. I may supplement with a smaller pump down the road. thanks for the help.

The Xf 250 and MP40 aren't comparable as far as flow goes (MP60 is much more comparable) Depends really on how much controllability you want to have, Ecotech is much more controllable

mp40 has more options to choose from in terms of wave control, and is a better made product imo. but the gryo gives you more water movement for your buck

i choose 2 mp40

I switched from 3 mp40's (sides and middle of back) to 2 xf 250 and am pleased with the result. I vote Gyre

I have 2 xf280 Grye, I can say they kick any powerheads butt. I highly recommend them.

I just received my order today for 2 XF280 Gyre with the advanced controller. What size tank are you running yours one? I have a 450G that is 8' long. Are you pleased with the water movement? What orientation did you go with?

Thanks

RB

You are going to hear different opinions about this topic. I had 2 Mp40s on a my 120 and I upgraded to a 240 and they are doing the job.
