The magazine is a Summit Media and BBC owned entity, I am sorry you have a problem with that, but it doesn't take anything away from the article. I absolutely agree that crap can and is produced worldwide and China does not have that market all to themselves. There are good products and bad products produced all over, but currently China is leading the way in copycat products because they just don't care. It is what it is and unfortunately people see a cheap price and don't care beyond that. This isn't the first or the last piece of equipment that will be duped.
The long lasting issue is what happens when companies no longer release their best innovations. If there is no way to at least protect them for a period of time, then there is no incentive to produce. We already have lost most of our manufacturing base, it is now in China. What we say with our purchases today sets the stage for what we will be able to buy tomorrow. No the world will not collapse because of this pump.
