MP40W Rev2 Rattle issues...

I purchased the MP40W about 3 weeks ago... Over the last week the wetside has started to get louder and louder. I have adjusted it to no end but no matter how tiny adjustments/movements I make it never stops. It has actually gotten to the point now where unless I have it dialed all the way down it sounds like its going to fall apart.

I have taken it off, verified pin spacers, cleaned wetside, taken apart wetside, everything I can think of. I noticed a few other threads where the driveshaft wears out, after taking it apart that looks like that could possibly be my issue as there seems to be uneven wear.

Here are some pictures, I have full resolution if needed.

This is quit disconcerting that the pump is having issues this early into its life... From the other threads it looks like I am not the only one...

Hi Mitch,

Form the picture you included there does not appear to be any wear on the drive shaft however perhaps you took a picture of the unworn portion as it typically only wears on one side. Please email service@ecotechmarine.com with your pump's serial number and we'll get you sorted out right away.

Hi Tim,

Thank you for such a fast reply, I took some more pictures to try and gauge if this is normal 'play' in the pump maybe this will help diagnose the issue. I was leaning towards wear because this has just recently shown up, when I first installed the pump it took only a minute to get it adjusted perfectly silent... Now I cannot get it to stop rattling for the life of me.

Not sure if the grooves are normal wear for only 3 weeks of use, it is difficult to get a picture but they are deeper on on some sides.

There is a groove on one side.

Not sure if the black on this is normal, but this ceramic washer can only go in one way... Otherwise it sits lopsided. (the black will not come off)

I tried to get some photos of the 'play' in the pump, this is how far the magnet can wobble out on each side when assembled... I am just pushing the prop to one side in these pics.

Hopefully this will help narrow down the issue, I will send an email shortly with the pictures etc..

mitch,

i was having the same exact problem with the magnet wobbling. i sent it in and they determined that was not the problem and i'm supposed to be getting the pump back.. its been over a week already.
