Get the nitrates under control also. I believe the only way to control nitrates is to control nutrients before they become nitrates or phosphates. Good filtration and water changes are the key. Any extras like ferric oxide and carbon all help but you still have to change water to "dilute" nitrates. I have seeen stuff on the market that are supposed to absorb nitrates but I have never tried any of them. Just change the water. Not only does it dilute the nitrates it replentishes elements depleted by the corals and fish. Happy reefing....
I think a big part of the high nitrates is that I continued dosing ammonia and did not run a skimmer. I have been running my skimmer since Thursday and my water still have a yellowish tint to it. I added a bag of carbon to my sump but hopefully the water change will get rid of it.
I also need to aquascape due to the fact I just tossed all my rock in for the cycle.
I had some Koralia 4 (Older) that did not have magnets and I ended up nuking the impeller with some bleach. I order some brand new Koralia 1400s but ended up sending them back and ordering the Jebaos. These little suckers are POWERFULL! It amazes me how much flow I can get with such small (Relative) pumps. I noise bothers me but no one else can here it. Its a soft electrical noise from the motor changing speed.
On a side note dose anyone have some Cheato they want to sell?
