Mr. Tangs 150 Display Tank with total water volume 300gallons

Ok so I have put on paper the tank and locations of the overflow and holes that have been drilled for the CL. These holes were drilled by the owner. He intended to make this tank a reef tank but never added water or plumbing. In fact he never did anything once He brought it home from the builder.

Ok so I got my first( of two) shipments of rock from Marco Rock. I am very happy with the rock!! I ordered 60 lbs. and got 63lbs. The pieces are all large and the smallest one is still bigger than a softball. excluding the frag rumble....

Yea,,,,I'm going to put alot of my current rock in the sump and than I'll buy some BIG pieces(30-40lbs.). I want 2 or three big pieces(pillars, islands) in front and hopefully that'll make the tank look like its got more depth.

The next thing to look at is this greatstuff foam spray. I show this tank build thread the other day and the owner used this foam spray against the left side glass to hide the intakes for the CL.. In than painted it to much the LR he was using. The idea of painting the foam was to make it look ok until the coraline algae started growing over it. Anybody here have any experience using this stuff??? I thought I could use it to hide the overflow and the intake for the cl. All though I have not decided where the intake is going but if I put it on the back wall,,I fell like I can hide it better using this and LR.

Theres a couple of threads on here already about rock/foam builds, not sure how to link you to them but I'm sure if you look you can find them. I actually started to do my 35 gallon hex with great stuff foam and lace rock until I read where a poster contacted the company that makes the foam and they said to use something called pond foam which wont breakdown over time like the regular expanding foams supposedly do and is also safe for fish.

Thats what I'm talking about,,,I want to put rocks around the intake to hide it and could use the foam to make the intake strainer blend into the rock better.. Of course I haven't decided where to put the 1.5" intake for the cl. I could put it on the left side of the tank

SO relax King and Dukes,,,no foam walls!!!!

Thanks Reeftanks6 for the kind words!!
Yea I hope this tank does turn out nicely. I can't wait to see some progress!!!

Well I finally played around with the rocks I got from marco rocks. I put them in the tank and realized that 60 lbs. isn't that much at all!!! I will need at least 60 lbs. more and it looks like there will be just enough room for two big rocks in front of the rock wall. Notice one thing though,,,no rocks leaning on the glass. I don't want any flow dead spots around or behind the rocks

Thanks kar93

Yea it should cause some good rip tides in the tank!!! I really want to be able be able to dail down the flow at first and be able to increase the flow as the corals start to grow and am hoping this big pump is the answer!!

monthly bump!! Just a few updates. Got a calcium reactor and kalk reactor from my good buddy. 1 1/2" tubular steel stand is built and painted. Now waiting on the 4-way and some glass drilling!!

The reactor I think is a custom made one from my good buddy

Ok so the wait has been long but some progress has been made!!!!!!!!!

The 4 - way is ordered and should be here tomorrow.
The sea-swirl is here. I will use this for my return from the sump room
The locline is here for the returns from the 4 - way. We are going 1 1/2" from the 4-way to 3/4" round nozzles
The bulkheads and the CO2 regulator is coming (thanks to Marinedepot) plus a PH monitor
And the best of all!!!!!!!The tank gets drilled tomorrow evening!!!!!!!

Will post pics in the next day or so
