The site recommends using a PCX 40 or a PCX 55. I hear that when using a beckett you should not skimp on the pump. Is that pump rated too low for that skimmer? Or am I getting the wrong idea?
the site recommends that mainly because of the flow rate, the MR2 is a bigger skimmer and thus can handle a bigger pump
but the concern here was electricity
but a MR2 with pcx-55 will outperform a MR2 with a pcx-30
but a MR2 with pcx-30 will outperform a MR1 with a pcx-30
the MR2 is a better buy, more contact time, and give you better upgradability down the road,
I just added 8" to my MR2 and when I upgrade tanks, will add another beckett and another riser, maybe the 12"
I like genx because of price and lower noise, but iwaki is a proven long lasting pump,
pcx55 is comparative with the md 55rt
the above two are considered perfect for a single beckett head, a iwaki MD 70 RLT would be better suited for two beckett heads, and a big body around and above MR3
Covey, good luck, you will like what you will see
