wrz0170,

glad things are doing great :D

you want to make sure that there are no backpressure, and thus all setting stay where you put them,

How do you clean the old style beckett injectors? Mine does not seem to come apart..

well there are two beckett housing

old housing, just pull and it comes apart

new housing, unscrews and it comes apart

the beckett head itself is the same, with old housing it use a ring and screws in to the housing, with the new housing it doesn't contain ring, you just insert it.

hope that helps if you any more ? just shoot our way,

Where does the ozone port connect to on my MR3? I would like to have the capability to use ozone down the road, and I don't want to have to tear things down to add it in later. I am in the process of plumbing the skimmer, so a quick reply is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Well is it clean water? You wont get any skimmate on new water unless its dirty.
I run mine wet i fill it up 4 inches under the collection cup stack.
Then i run about 3 turns out on the air. Gets me a somewhat dark green water.

Good point, no dirty water, nothing to clean :D Right now, it is staying steady at 1 to 1.5" above the black box. However, I notice absolutely no change in the injector. Big bubbles whether the needle valve is open or closed. Is it supposed to be that way?

The only other thing is bubble condensation up through both risers and into the drain tube.

Thanks again :D

wrz0170,

check the salinity, not much salt, not much bubbles, also the oils in your hand will break up the bubbles, try a bunch of food and see :D

wrz0170,

there are many ways to put the ozone port, if you are not going to put ozone now, don't worry about it, add the port later, because is not really part of the pluming, but if you still want to put it, them just you can do it before or after the air gate valve, and plug it

here is mine before the air gate valve, the valve controls all incoming air

good luck,

Thanks Nunez!

I will check the salinity when I get home. Not sure I follow about the oils in the hand to break up bubbles? I just pour a little bit of food in? What should the bubbles look like in the injector? Sorry for the questions. I just want to be sure I am adjusting right and it is acting as it should before I try the real test. :D

How high or how low does my water need to be, in my sump, for my MR-1? Can I put the MR-1 in a sump with a baffle that's 8" high?

Hopes this makes sence.

Sorry for the double post

Alrighty,

I did have to add more salt to bring the salinity up. I guess if I am going to test, might as well do it right.

Before I added salt, the water level was steady, 1 to 1.5" above black box.

I added salt and what looks to be foam appeared. Kind of looks like a lot of pics that I see. It raised to about an inch from the top of the first riser.

Is this what I want? Do I adjust it so the foam is back to an inch above the black box? I feel like I am a tweak or two away from getting it right and ready for the cycle :)

wrz, stop wasting time and get that tank cycling already. :p

LOL, yup. I figure I wasted enough time. I think I got the juist of it and I know where to come to get some help tweaking it out :D

What should I do next? Add ozone or upgrade my pump to a GenX-PCX40? Now using a GenX-6000 on my MR-1 (with good results).

Pump upgrade 1st. Since i added the mrc my ozonator does not run anymore my orp is always at 360 +- 10. So i am debating on selling my ozonator and controller.

my2girls, I'd be interested to hear how the pump upgrade goes and how it makes the skimmer do. I am currently running the Gen-X 6000 as well on my MR-1, but always wanted to put a pressure pump on it, but never did. I'll be selling it soon anyways, but really just curious of the difference.

The goof is the GenX-6000 seems to be kickin' @#$. I've owned my MR-1 for about 2 weeks now. It's my first beckett and the whole water line and air valve thing was tricky at first. I just pulled out about a 2 liter soda bottle full of dark skimmate in 4 days. I have owned several skimmers in the past. I got more skimmate in 4 day than I have in 3 months with other skimmers. So I'm not sure if I should mess with success.

The only negative so far is that the submersible pump heats the water a few degrees. Not a problem in the fall and winter, but I might have a problem during the summer.

Glad to hear you like it. I dont think i could go back to a weak needlewheele skimmer. My2girls keep an eye on the salt creep in the needlevalve. I was like *** when mine first started to bet blocked up, and found the valve was full of salt. Just an easy rinse under warm water and all was good again.

Hey MRC guys I am considering getting a MR-2. I was wondering how easy it is to get dark at least brown skimate out of a MRC. I see alot of people going for the light tea look but prefer the dark stuff. If I could bother you guys for some pics of your MRC running dry foam it would help sell me on it.
