so im thinkning about upgrading my skimmer pump, but then i thought why do that when I could run all my euqipment of one pump??!!

So, would it be possible to run my dual beckett skimmer off a reeflow dart pump that would be feeding the frag tank and main tank???? The reason I chose this pump is because its so quiet and has alot of flow. Or should I go up an extra model to get the pump with a little more head pressure???? Thanks guys!!!

Oh, BTW I have a MR-2R skimmer with two becketts if that helps any.

If this wont work, what will??? I want a sequence because they are quiet. So sequence is the only choice at this point.

If you were to run, say your skimmer and return pump off of the same pump, would the flow remain the same and not fluctuate between them? That is what I would be worried about, but don't know if that would actually be the case or not.

Can't run a recirculating skimmer and the return as one...it defeats the purpose of the recirculating.

Not sure I understand this comment:confused:

I am planning on using a Sequence pump for my main pump and also T-ing off of it to feed the skimmer "X" gph, then the skimmer has it's own dedicated recirculating pump.

He was talking about the recirculation pump, not the feed pump. By using a pump for the recirculation and for the tank...it is not a dedicated recirculating pump....it would be a dual purpose pump.

As far as the water pressure fluctuating between them, I don't have that problem. I have a sequence hammerhead with a branch as my return a bypass back to the sump and two take offs for the MR3. Each arm has its own ball valve. The skimmer take off it first, followed by the by pass and then the return. I basically leave the skimmer valves wide open, I then left the by pass wide open and shut won the flow to my tank to a point that had the water level more or less where i wanted it, I thenclosed the bypass off a bit to add a bit of pressure to the system Every thing seems to be very stable. The water level in my tank remains constant as it does in my skimmer. The water level in the tank goes up slightly when i shut down the becketts for cleaning, but its minimal (suggest you make sure your overflow can handle the increased flow the first time you try this.. no problem in my case).

How much flow/pressure is a beckett supposed to get?

I have an MR-2R also on its way.

How did you do the plumming from the overflow? Does all your water run through it or do you T it off?

Also most overflows get large air bubbles in them, how do you keep those from getting into the skimmer and causing lots of turbulence?

Just some things I have been wondering about.

Thans in advance

I tee'd off the overflow. im not using all the water from the overflow so that way im not getting any bubbles in the skimmer. I used all flex PVC to plumb it. I can post some pictures if you would like me to do so.
