Why would you need to superglue the beckett to the housing? Less noise? I've never heard mine rattle before. Normally in order to clean the beckett housing you would have to remove the beckett. Do you just spot glue and then detach when cleaning?

My question is does glueing enhance the performance or does it merely keep the rattling noise down that some people experience?

well what can i say.......need some help with my mrc mr2 after 2 years with out a problem my air silincer keeps getting cloged with salt creep. i also see salt inside the injector chamber and it needs to be cleaned all the time. is there something that has gone wrong with it or is it time for a new injector?
thanks
michael

i clean my injectors every month salt creep builds up in the air slot & i stay on top of it it's just part of maintance.
if ur salinity is reall high the salt creep will build up faster. JME.

I just received my (slightly used) MRC MR-2R skimmer and I have got one question prior to purchasing the pump. BTW: I am a proud owner of a MRC Calcium Reactor and MRC Refugium.

Anyhow, what benefit will I receive if I upgrade to a 1500+ gph pump? Right now I have a Gen-X 55 (1150 gph) and would like to know if it is worth upgrading to a higher pressure rated pump. I have a 200 DT tank with a fuge (probably 230 gallons of total water). I am hooking my new skimmer next week and I am excited to have a MRC skimmer. I have to believe that since this is a recirculating skimmer I should be fine with the pump I have, but just checking to see if it is worth the upgrade to a PanWorld 200 or BlueLine 70???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well i just bought a new MRC MR2 of a fellow member who never got around to set it up (jcarson999). Anyway, now forthe few questions before i set up (read over 20 pages of this huge thread with no answer yet, so figured i'd try to post so someone can direct me to a link or answer).

Question 1: i'm going to be using a Panworld 200PS (blueline70), is that a good pump to be using as the recirc? And since i don't have very much room to set it up i was thincking of putting the skimmer out of my cabinet and the pump inside my cabinet OR buiding a small skimmer shelf and have the pump directly under the skimmer. Will having a little extra plumbing between the pump and skimmer be a problem (since its a little bigger pump than the recommend size anyway).

Question 2: I have twin overflows, so i planned on using one as my feed to the skimmer (as i'm currently using it this way on my previous skimmer with no water surges at all and constant water flow). Does anyone else use it this way with or with out any problems? I would of course leave the valve in order to control the water input to the skimmer from the overflow.

Thanks everyone, glad to finaly join the club!

You are going to love your MR-2R skimmer, congrats. The PW 200 or BL 70 is a tad big for that skimmer, but it will work. The PW 200 is sized for the MR-3R. I plan on using a PW150 once I get mine hooked up next week. Using an overflow drain will work as long as you have a minimum flow of 1 1/2 to 2 times the quantity of your total water volume.

Good luck hooking it up and MRC makes GREAT reliable equipment IME.

I only have 120 Gallons of water and each of the overflows are rated at 600 GPH/each, so that should be plenty right? Is it o.k to not have the recirc pump right at the skimmer and have a few feet of pipe and a few 90 degree elbows. I will be able to throttle back ithe pump if needed. Hope it won't be way to big uncontrolable. Thanks

If you have the ability to throttle the PW 200 back that should be fine and I do not see any reason why the pump needs to be in direct proximity to the skimmer, within reason anyway.

Just my experience and may wait for others to chime in.

Where's all you MRC profesionnals? There has to some on tonight, please bump again for an answers, skimmer is going to be installed tommorrow. thanks guys

Well, i installed my skimmer yesterday and its now starting to get some really nice thick foam (not really that dirty yet). I'm surprized their aren't more people on this thread. I guess everything has already been answered in the hundreds of pos over and over again. Maybe people are on to bigger and better skimmers OR that theese skimmers work so well made , built and are problem less that we don't need to talk about them??? LOL
Bump to get this thead going again. later everyone!

Some of it may be the big needle wheel craze and/or fade. I still think becketts are one heck of a skimmer for functionality IMHO. As soon as I get mine back online again I will post my results.
