MRC December Meeting

Scapes, your lighting looks awesome... esp. in the 80 gal; I need you to advise me on how to achieve that look but I'm growing mostly SPS. You're welcomed to come over to take a look. I need to pay you for that chalice too; can you wait until the Jan mtg?

BTW, Gflat,

Thanks for hosting; I had a great time!!! Can't believe all the set-ups you have... Okay, I take that back; I know where you're coming from; lol.

Like I mentioned at the meeting, I built a nice stand for a new 40-gal breeder but I ended up putting my nano tank on it. If I can find a good deal on tank, rock, lighting and a hang-on skimmer, then I'll go through with it. I think a 65g will work for me as well.

Merry Christmas!!!

Craig

Wow,
That is some nice growth! Love the Christmas lights also. I tried Salt Water two or three times over the past decade and always failed until I went with Aquarium Fantasies. I bought my 90 from them and I loved that they dated when their fish were brought in on the tanks. For the first time in the hobby I have never had Ich and never had a fish not eat or bought a fish that was "evil" to his tankmates. The only losses I've suffered over the past year were jumpers, and I lost some Xenia and a Firefish during a carpet revamp. I never thought to ask them if their was a reef club in Montgomery because we never seem to have anything in Montgomery...
I'd defintely like to meet some other reefers. My friends think I'm an idiot if I ever tell them what I spend on fish stuff.

Great setups Julie, wish mine looked like that! It's coming along though. Yea, I'll be there wife also. I'm just aching to buy some more acans from Gary! Hopefully he will bring some to the meeting, or I may have to get in touch and make a trip to his house!! Looking forward to the next meeting and getting the club more stable and formed up. Met a local reefer in my lfs and invited him to the next meeting he is interested and hopefully can attend. When the date gets closer I'll need directions to your house. Looking forward to seeing everyone there, hope everyone has a MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Michael

Craig,

I've got a scratched up 48 gallon in the garage you can have (same footprint as a 40B, just taller). If not, a new 40B is around $80, I think. I drilled the one behind the 120 (not the one on the opposite wall-it was already swiss cheesed when I got it). I made a weir for it, too, and siliconed it in place. I'm seeing stress fractures on the weir, but it doesn't seem to leak (needs a material change). Not too much to it, if you wanted to try that route. I couldn't guarantee no breakage on the tank, though... I've never broken one and have drilled countless holes, but that just means I'm due;). Patience (15-20 minutes per hole) can usually prevent the issues with drilling.

gflat,

That would be great; I'm willing to give it a try... I was wanting a little taller tank anyway but not as tall as a 65g. I have a couple of reg fluor lights I could put on it for softies until I can afford a nice light set-up.

Thanks,

Craig

I'll try to dig it out tomorrow. If not, it'll be Sunday. I'm off until the 5th, though, so give me a call next week and you can come grab it.

next meeting at my house, january 25th, sunday, say at 2pm?

saw jim today at aquarium fantasies, hooked me up w/ a few cool fishies. thanks jim!!

Julie,

Can we send out directions via email, too, for those who aren't on RC, but are interested in a club?
