Mrs Wages pickling and canning salt

Does anyone know if this is pure calcium chloride? All I can find for ingredients is "salt"

I remembered reading somewhere that this can be a good substitute for Randy's 2 part dosing. I know I can get a 50 lbs bag of ice melt, but I'll rather get this in 3 lbs pouches and it's less than 1/2 the price of BRS stuff.

It only shows sodium and no calcium. So I'm assuming it's just sodium chloride.

What you want is Mrs. Wages Pickling LIME. That's kalk. The salt, I do not know.

Ingredient list.

Shows 0% calcium daily intake. So either it's really low or not on it.

Why would you expect calcium in a salt product?

I had the wrong product. It's actually Mrs Wages Xtra Crunch that's pure calcium chloride, but it's more expensive than BRS.

Pickling salt helps keep the pickles crunchy. It's calcium chloride, but it does seem to be pricier than the various DIY products.

So if I add Mrs Wages to my ATO which is close to sealed I get a white powder around the edges and bottom. Is this a result of not mixing it well or should I add a small power head in the ATO box?

That's probably just a bit of impurities settling, or a bit of extra lime. Lime mixes very rapidly and easily, so there's no need for a powerhead.

No, just leave it and clean it every six months or so. Just don't let your ATO pump suck it up.
