Thanks for sharing! Looks like you could lower the level a little to make it drier if you wanted.

That's clay-boa.
Please note that person swapped out the mazzei to a 784. My experience with the 784 and according to mazzei's spec sheets is it allows more flow which would help the sp4 and mag18. But at the same time a pump with better pressure rating pushes through a lot more air.
But again, the mag 18 will do ok. I would go with mag 18 over the sp4.
The SP4 only has 11.8' max head height.
It's a safe choice and a good start. I did get slightly better air draw swapping out the 684 with the 784 mazzei as seen above.
I still really want to try a dual venturi modification.
...
And I have this ordered and on its way

I don't think so. I bought mine from big brand water
Np, one thing to check is to make sure the ball and spring are removed. The venturi part that the tube goes on unscrews and from mazzei a ball and spring are in there as a check valve. It's not necessary for our application and can restrict air flow and higher chance of clogging. Just make sure the airline is above the water line in the skimmer. Thanks Again [emoji481]
I've got a couple more things to build out before this goes live but getting closer. I have the sump on the stand and the skimmer ready with it's default and recommended setup.
Mazzei is a brand which makes venturi injectors among other things.Perhaps one of these pics will help ?
Pics didn't show up
Yes I can see the pics...Thanks. So the Mazzei venturi that comes with the skimmer from MTC, does have the ball valve and spring, and you recommend removing them so more air gets puled thru..correct. Also the air line that comes from this assembly appears about half way up the skimmer. My shimmer will sit in about 12" of stable water. ( I could raise the skimmer up a couple of inches if needed. So the air line you talked about, will my set up be ok ?
Keith
The airline coming from the venturi goes up well above the neck line and Jeff provides more than enough tubing. No check valve needed.
Jeff also removes the ball and spring but it's good to check to make sure. And if you get a new one from somewhere else the ball and spring will be in there and should be removed.
No need to raise the skimmer up.
hey guys i have a question i have a MTC HSA1000

I wanted to know how to upgrade this thing and if there s a easier way to clean the top part where all the junk is without removing the neck up
I cant get a hold of the 2 brothers but was thinking to add this and what exactly are they suppose to help do

Wish I could help you, but i'm new this type of skimmer. Hopefully someone will chime in to help you out. By the way how do you like the way it performs ?
Keith
This is the 2nd 1 i owed the 1st i sold when i got out the hobby and just got back in this was the 1st skimmer i p/u for a 300 dt + 125 sump.
right away it was picking up gunk.
I probably dump 5 gal (deer park container) every 1 1/2 - 2 weeks.
I do tend to over feed sometimes.
Just need a few 45's now

Yep. It'll either be great or terrible. I'm expecting one or the other. lolMaking duel Mazzei injectors? Let us know how it helps with performance...
