MTC skimmer club!

I get my spare Mazzei's from BigBrandWater. There are different types, one for air/fertilizer mixing and one for air and ozone. I use the air and ozone one, besides you can't get the 684 in the other type.

The 684 doesn't look like mine?

anyone here from jeff lately at MTC.. I ordered a replacement parts for my MTC HSA1000 and have not heard back form him for some time. great guys .. just hoping all is well with them. thanks

personally, I haven't had any luck getting in touch with them ... I have emailed and called several times, but, no luck .. I was hoping to have them build me another custom skimmer as their work is amazing

Yep, I exchanged emails with Jeff, and my skimmer arrived this weekend. Jeff's had some health issues that are causing things to "take 4x longer than normal"," but he's at it.

and, the skimmer, 34" MVC, looks AMAZING. Can't wait to run it.

Well, perhaps MTC removed them from mine because there never were any. Makes sense actually if you look at the way they hold the black air lines well above the water level.

No You are Correct. We are talking about two different injectors here. The HSA uses a Beckett Injector, not a Mazzei Venturi . The Beckett has no Spring.

Hi Guys, I'm new to reef central, but I've been in the hobby for 15 years. I just ordered the MTC MVX customized to 48". I spoke with Jeff\MTC 3 times this week and he's getting back to being 100% in terms of health and productivity. I live pretty close to his shop, so I'll be paying him a visit to accept his invitation to check out the HSA and MVX line up.

JOINING!!!

Got a hold of Jeff just a moment ago and talked about getting the MVX series. He said about 3 weeks out right now or maybe sooner. I told him it's not a rush though I want it NOW! lol

I don't think I've been this excited to get a skimmer before and I've cycled through many of them.

Getting the MTC MVX 36" w/ quick change head making it 39". Plus, having the lid not have that little handle on top and a center hole cut for my swabbie neck cleaner to go in.

It's going to be driven by a mag 1800 as I have 2 extra's sitting around.

edit: btw, that phone rang like 15 times it seemed. I was about to hang up when he answered.

Going to have some fun with this skimmer. Can't wait to get it.

Going to play around with all kinds of configuration.

Between stock setup and mazzie placement and changes. Killowatt and Dwyer air metering. Different pumps and injectors.

Going to start off stock with a mag 18. And I want to get a waveline dc12000 some time to try as well as its supposed to have even better head pressure.

But also just picked up a jecod dct 15000 nib for $50

And I have this ordered and on its way

Is that injector as a back up? I was under the impression the mvx came with a mazzei?

Following along as well.... looking to upgrade my skimmer and one of these is top of my list at the moment.

Following along , interested in your results.
Thanks it will be a while. 3 weeks first hopefully to get the skimmer. Then I have to figure out how to shove it into my setup.

Yes, it comes with the 684 as my understanding. It's just something to try and play with.

Some stats I'm getting for the pumps I'm using now for my needle wheel skimmer and a mag1800 as a return.

Aquamaxx says the EM300 draws 27watts. Killowatt says 32.91 average over a 24 hour period.

Over a week period my mag1800 with around 12' head height against it as a basement return pumping around 750gph has averaged around 71.18 watts. At 0 head its rated for 150watts.

And i got the other mazzei injector to try out in. Now all I need is a new skimmer.
