MTRC Elections

Hello all you out there in MTRC land! Election time is nearing for MTRC officers. Voting will be in March, so now is the time for getting nominations up. There are officially 4 positions available:

President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer

The constitution allows combining the Secretary and Treasurer which is what we did last year. I think the club has grown to the point where it would be good to have all 4 positions filled if there is interest. Beyond the officers, there are many ways for folks to get involved. There is the web site, the Frag Swap Committee, and hosting meetings in your homes. There is also plenty of room for folks to jump in for other things, such as events coordination (maybe some road trips to the Atlanta or Chattanooga aquariums, etc.). So lets get this year off to a good start with getting some nominations for the 2008 officers going :)
 
Well I will be the first to nominate Jack to stay as president. Also I would like for people post if they would like to be part of the elections. I know some people always say that they are too new because they have only been in it a year that is not true.
 
I would also like to nominate Norman as Treasurer as I will not be able to hold the position because of family issues. For those of you that don't know Norman he is one of the most honest persons that I know and I think he will do 10 times better of a job then I have done this last year.

Well we got a good start if the people nominated would be willing to serve can you please post? also we can still have others get nominated or self nominate themselves as we don't want anyone left out.
 
Could we get some descriptions/list of responsibilities?

I'm about 90% positive I'll be able to serve as Secretary, but I want to make sure I'll be able to do what is required before fully committing. :)

I agree with Brandon, I think I would be willing to serve if I knew for sure what the responsibilities would be.

I also think Jack & Chris should continue as Pres & VP or at least that is my vote :)

From the MTRC bylaws:
Duties of Officers

Section 1 The President shall preside at all meetings, sign documents, and be a member of all Committees.

Section 2 The vice president shall, in the absence of the President, act as presiding officer. The vice president shall be a member of all Committees and shall be informed of any business of said Committee so that s/he may present it to the board in the absence of said Committee Chairman.

Section 3 It shall be the responsibility of the Secretary to inscribe the proceedings of all meetings and to be prepared to read the specified records when requested. This office requires the maintenance of Club records, except those designated to
other officers. When the President and vice president are absent in any meeting, the Secretary shall preside. The Secretary shall also be responsible for maintaining copies of all correspondence as directed by the board.

Section 4 The Treasurer shall keep in order financial records and/or books, tender by check recognized expenses incurred by the Club, and co-sign checks with the President, or the one other Board member designated by the Board. The Treasurer is required to present immediately prior to the end of the fiscal year, all financial records to the person specified by the Board of Directors for audit and shall include a written statement of the financial condition of the club. The Treasurer shall also present a monthly financial report to the Board of Directors and anytime at the request of the President.

Section 5 All Officers at the expiration of their term of office/appointment, or whether office/appointment is declared vacant, shall deliver to their successor all books, papers, monies and other property in their possession belonging to the Middle Tennessee Reef Club.
