MTRC Officer Election

I accept the nomination :)

Glad to see you've given this position some thought.

Any ideas on Global Warming and the war in Iraq?

On the side note though lets not take election results personal and lets keep the ads clean and no attacking any one. But on a side not I did spend a lot of time at the playboy club in WI some years back.

I agree that the planning of a frag swap event should be tackled by SEVERAL people. A committee would be a great thing.

In my nominating Moriah for that task, I A$$umed that she would be calling on volunteers as Gary did, but hey, I'm all for an organized committee.

I accept the "MTRC Event Planner" nomination, but under the condition that it allows for assistance with tasks...meaning what was mentioned, as far as having people that will handle certain aspects of the swap (raffle donations, vendor contacts, etc.)

Gary - what are your thoughts on the idea of having a seperate "MTRC Event Planner" position? I imagine you will have a lot of ideas after having planned the swap a few times....

I'd say a lot of the issues that I've run across with the club could be solved by a little more organization at the meetings. I've talked to quite a few people about it and all seem to agree. Not long ago, the club was only a few people, which is a lot less to organize/keep track of, and could be easily accomplished by personally communicating with each other. I know the club has grown a lot recently and I think, as the group gets bigger, setting a little time aside to take care of some business will result in a much more functional (and happier) group. Having introductions for new people in the beginning would also help alleviate some of the "problems" of getting bigger. Basically, what crumbletop said...

This needs to be done privately so only members can vote. I've been working on some experimental things on my own lately and it might be close to time to unveil them to the current officers for their approval. I would say it can't be done on RC without everyone having the ability to vote.

I don't think a poll on RC would be the best way to do it. There is no way to limit who votes. Anyone viewing the forum could vote. I would think sending emails or pm to our incumbent President (but sad to see leaving Gary) would be better controlled. This is of course if he has the time and is up to it.

I would also like to see a final list of positions being voted for and nominees.

As Gary mentioned earlier in this post. I will be more than happy to fill in for any open position. I think we have a great group of people in this club & it is growing by the day.:D

I think we would need to look at the by-laws to see about adding elected positions. I haven't actually looked at them in a couple fop years (I know, bad me-I'd have to hunt to find them, I think...), but we ought to check them. They can be changed if we don't like anything, but it would be good to go through the process, me thinks.

I think the best way to do elections is via email. That way, everyone has the same opportunity to vote and there is more participation. It also keeps things a bit more private.

Love the response.

Typically in elections you either have to be present to vote or specifically request an absentee ballot.

I have always liked this part of the elective process because it forces some level of involvment on the parties voting, and encourages some rudimentry knowledge at a minimum about who is running for office.

I was on the board at a condo I owned some years ago(yeah I know not impressive), and elections were done in a similar manner. It was difficult in the condos because the covenant required a percentage of participation that was rather high so we had to pester people to vote that had no clue of who the people were that were running for office.

I know this has been brought up before but what are the thoughts of holding elections at the February meeting? Everyone that wants to vote either needs to show up at the meeting or request an absentee ballot. It can be a meeting with a mission :)

The people in the club that don't care about the office/who holds them or even who's been nominated (no offense to anyone, but I would bet money there are a bunch) aren't going to go through the effort of requesting a ballot, therefore weeding out the "uninformed/uncaring" voters. Everyone else that cares will either make a request, or show up at the meeting.

Just a thought...

Hello all
Gary is very busy & asked me to finish what I started here & get officers elected. There are a few points I need to hit here first.

We decided, after the first two elections, to vote by e-mail to give ALL club members a fair chance to vote. We always have less than half of our members at any meeting & it's impossible to schedule a meeting when "everyone" is off work. Anyone not interested in who the officers are can just not reply to the ballot e-mail.

The club originally had 6 elected officers. (Pres. VP, Treasurer, Secretary, Web Master & PR officer) We cut the elections back to the first 3 because, like now, we usually don't have that many serious volunteers & those are the most needed positions. The other positions can be nominated & voted on between the 3 elected officials at any time as needed. This gives the officers the flexability to fill needed positions at any time without a large election. Kinda like Congress voting on bills, etc.

lastly club officers have to be current members & only current members get a vote. That being said I think we need to give members a week or so to re-join because we only have about 30% right now.

The candidates we have now are:
Crumbletop (President)
Wayne (Treasurer)
Coral_reefer25 (any position)
eyebedam (any position)
mamagoose45 (?)

I like the idea of holding the elections after the meeting so everyone that is interested in running can speak. Perhaps some time at the Febuary meeting could be dedicated to this purpose. Then send/recieve and tally the ballots by email the following week.

PS- The website needs to be updated, I am still listed as an officer. It would not hurt my feelings if you wanted to list me as one of the founding members :D (just kidding)

what about c_stowers for VP? Or has his name already been brought up and he declined? Maybe I missed that?
