My LFS has a fish they are calling a green filefish but it dosen't look like any I see on the net. Its colored more like a parrot blue in the front turning to green with some orange and red. What kind of filefish is this ? Would it do well in a tank with large angels ? thanks Bruce

might be ,very colorful about two inches or so, came in as a trade in so its tank acclimated , hard to keep ? $39 good price ?

Do a search for Pervagor melanocephalus...as mentioned, they change color, but they do have a blue front, orange tail phase. They're a 4" fish IIRC.

IME with most filefish is they can be a bit timid at first, but generally get with the program fairly quickly as long as their tankmates aren't too aggressive. Otherwise, you may not see it much.

$39 is a fair price if the fish is 2" or larger.

They are beautiful fish, and more active than you might think. I have not found them to be not very commonly available, though they aren't a rare fish.
