Multibar Anglefish

So I've only had a tank for three and a half months. My first tank was a 18 gallon ADA tank with a flame angle and a blue eyed dotty back. I was very happy and impressed with these fish and tank. About three weeks ago I lucked up and bought a elos mini and just yesterday got my fish for that tank. I ordered 8 red dot cardinal fish but only five made it and a multibar anglefish. The multibar was eating after four hours into the tank. Do you think since this fish was eating good and fast he might have a chance to make it?

He should have a chance to make it, but I would QT it and also hopefully that tank isn't too newly setup. Angels often do better in well established systems.

SLIM to NONE... 'SOMEONE' :reading: should have told you, that, even people with more than 100 days of experience have trouble with this fish.. good luck

That is quite harsh, the guy already has the fish and it is eating, he can keep the fish. The only hard part to keeping this fish is adapting it. If he takes some preventative measures with a QT procedure it should be fine. I just hope the tank is cycled...

You really should have a little more information before you post something as harsh as this.

The Elos that he purchased, was mine and was established for several months. All of the substrate and rock was transfered and was never out of the water. There was no ammonia spike after the transfer, and everything has been running smoothly. I am the one who advised his toward this fish. And the part of your post that was deleted was very off base! Watch your words, my friend.

Trust me this fish is in great hands, and WILL have a long life.

yea i would half to say its one of my favorite angles. I also like the colins angle a lot in my next tank i'll have one.
yep waited 2 hours for it to update and feel very lucky and super stocked

I have had Multibar angels eat for several months and then just suddenly die. That tends to be the overall reputation of this fish. The longest I have kept one was 8 months and that fish ate everything and was somewhat bold at only 2". I think it is funny how these have suddenly become the "it fish" of the moment. They have always tended to be offered online and even within the last several months you could get one for $25-30. Now most places have jacked up their prices on them from $60-$80. I guess there is a demand for them now. I call it the Diver's Den/Reef Central effect. Good luck with your multibar.

I will post pictures of this fish later, and I have seen it in person. It is a very healthy fish and eating aggressively. I hope that it will do well.

Congrats Bradley!

~ I apologize albano if I sounded harsh.

That was a nice vid. The angel is beautiful and it looks very healthy.

On another note I would have given the same responce as Albano did given the info from the first post. There was no mention that this was an established tank or he had any fishkeeping help. I dont think he was overly harsh in his responce and his "slim to none" reply is actually right on for most any 100 day newby keeping a touchy fish like a mulitbar. Unless he had a seasoned vet looking over his shoulder.

I would of never tried a fish like this but with Michael just a phone call away I went for him and hopefuly he'll be ok.

I'm kind of thinking these red dot cardinal are going harder than the angle I started with 8 and I'm DD gets more I'lltry to get them
