this anemone went for a walk

bottom line reason: loves light and cannot get enough!

Wow....I just saw this thread and that tank is amazing. I love your angel fish as well - stunning. I see that you run a bare bottom as well. One could only wish to have a tank this incredible - it's a piece of art work!

thanks for all kind words.

I do prefer running barebottom but with growing corals it's unavoidable that some substrate accumulates. This mimics the natural progression of a reef growing in the wild- broken dead coral skeletons fall to the outer perimeter of the reef and they get colonized by other critters which in turn grow into new square footage of reef.

Gary,
is your tank 30 inches high and 24 inches wide or the other way around?

Also, when you first got Junior, was he with juvenile, changing or adult coloration?

I hope to set up a new aquarium that will rival your's. How ever mine will be view from one side and will be 72LX36WX30H. Starfire front and external overflow. :)

Minh...

Minh...

I have a standard Marineland 72" long x 24" wide x 30" high 220

36" wide x 30" high with Starfire sounds nice!
Junior was changing when introduced.

Hi Gary
Has your emperor nipped at any of your coral or anemones? I have a BTA and a juv. emperor. For the first time last week, and hopefully the last time, I caught her nipping at the center of the BTA near it's mouth. BTA has been in the tank 6 months now and emperor for 9 months. Fish are well fed and plenty of nori (at least 3 times per week). Anemone eats every other day or so. It hasn't happened since then (that I know of) but BTA is very healthy with no damage that I can see. Just curious.
thanks in advance.

Hi Gary. Has your emperor nipped at any of your coral or anemones?
short answer: yes.
There's nothing "new" in my aquarium. All of those corals grew from frags.
Get used to your Angelfish sniffing around the mouth of your anemone and don't be surprised to see it sample whatever it wants.
