Multicolour BTA

Dear all.

These are popping up more frequently over here, would you call this a rose, or is there another descriptor for it? I have one that has a beige foot, fluorescent green base and red tentacles with pink tips. A bit like in the picture below.

since we are on the subject of RBTA, I got a quick question. I have owned several over the years and I have not had one that actually bubbles. Just has long tentacles. Is this normal? To much flow? or something I cant even think of? Thanks in advance.

The question about how to get a BTA to bubble is open to speculation. Some think it's lighting, others would say flow is a factor, and some say it has to do with whether the anemone is hungry. All I can say is that under T-5s my RBTAs and GBTAs are always bubbled. The ones I have under MH generally aren't bubbled, but on occasion do a little.

I picked up a beautiful 5" RBTA at '07 Reef-a-Palozza, from OC aquatics. Brought it home to NY, it found a spot that it 'liked' in my 170g DT, but after 6 months, it lost the bubbles. In 2 years it grew to over 24" diameter, and in Sept '09, it grew very large bubbles at the BASE of its 'tentacles'. In June of this year, I moved it to my 450g upgrade, and it started 'walking' and split, for the first time. I ended up selling the two 12" twins.
In regards to color, I have placed an order for an Aussie 'Sunset' BTA, which is red/orange/yellow. A LFS imports a few, 2 or 3 times a year
.

Sometimes its a rainbow of orange, green & yellow mostly yellow gold
