multiple clowns

Awesome Dude
Could 2 pairs of clowns be kept in my 65gal reef? say true percs on one side and saddlebacks on the other? I understand the need for mutliple places for them to host so there is no territorial issues but could mutliple species be kept?

I would really try to not do that. A 65 really isnt that big of a tank when you think about it, and they will eventually run into each other. Different types of anemonefish (clowns) dont do good with each other for the most part. I'm sure there's a few people who have dif. clowns in the same tank, but overall i would not suggest it. Also it would just make it worse to have 2 seperate pairs.

I guess Im one of the few. I have a pair of false perca and skunks in my 135g. I also had them in a 55g. Both are tank raised and I find that to be the key. When I first interduced the pair of skunks there was some bickering. Nothing more than a couple nipped fins. But as time went on they seam to be doing great. They are usually around a foot apart but dont mess with each other unless the other set messes with their host. I cant say that this will always happen because I have had problems interducing other species of clowns. Do some research. There are types that will not get along. No matter how lucky you are. A good place to get them from is Aqua Touch. They sometimes have different types in the same tanks and if this is what you want you could get them with little to no trouble. AA usually only sales tank raised clowns.

Good luck

its also a 135g tank which helps a lot. I'm guessing they picked at each other a little more when in the 55? But then again...were they smaller in the 55?

I know that someone here had a clarki and true perc in the same tank, but that was a 90 and they were not in pairs, and the clarki he said was a bit mean at times to the other one.

But what hermanx said about them being tank raised....I'm with hermax... they would probably be better together if they're tank bred or at least tank raised (there is a difference) as opposed to wild caught. I'd think that for a wild caught fish, it would be more natural for them to NOT get along...tank raised/bred fish probably would be easier to get along w/each other.
