multiple clowns

we'll i've already got 2 clowns...true percs w/ a rbta that are laying eggs. I'm setting up a tank just for clowns and anemone's and was wondering if I had more than one anemone if I could have more than 1 pair of clownfish. if the anemone's sit close together will the fish fight? I'm thinking about a pair of snowflakes to mix in with the true percs.

it all depends on the size of the aquarium. if the anemones are near each other than the clowns will definitely get into turf battles. with your 75g i believe you will be able to pull it off.

I wouldn't recommend adding a second pair.
I'm far from an expert, but I've got two BTAs (one rose and one pink-tip) on different ends of my 90.
My maroon pair first hosted in the rose, but the female goes over and plays in the pink-tip on a regular basis. She also chases my chromis all over the tank.
I think a 75 is too small for what you plan.

well I think i'm going to be setting up a tank for an anemone or 2 with a pair of clowns...and then putting another pair in my main tank. I want a pair of snowflakes real bad! but my mom wants the true "nemos" aka perc's. LOL.

I have a similiar question.

I had a maited pair of small false percs in a biocube. I had a large clown in my 95 gallon....., it came from a pair, but we could not catch the other one, which I think was smaller.

I put the pair of small clowns in the 95 with the 1 large one.

I was told since they were smaller they would be ok....... They seem ok, but it was only been 1 hour.....

Any thoughts?

I think that keeping more then one pair of clowns in an averaged sized tank is a very poor idea. Sure it may work for some people, but for how long? A couple of months is not a long time, heck, even a couple of years isn't a long time.

I've had my mated pair of clarkiis for 7+ years, and that really isn't all that long. Oh, and when I first got them, I had 3 of them, 4 months later I had 2, they killed the 3rd one. Unless you are prepared to take it out and give it another home with little notice, I highly suggest against it.

Just my $0.02

Also, don't forget that the anemone will go wherever it wants. You can't just put them on either side of the tank and expect them to stay there.

Gah this subject again...

75g is too small for more than one pair. If you are inclined to do so anyway heres some tips.

Use clowns that have very good bond with a part. type of anemone. IE Maroons-Quad/Ritt-Perc etc.

Have them hosted prior to introduction.

Incorporate a capet into the mix because simply stated they stay put.

Use docile clown types percs/Ocell/Sandarcinos etc.

I maintained a 215RR with three BREEDING pairs of clowns. Maroon/Nigripes/Percs prior to hurricane Rita. The thread is on this forum somewhere.

Best of luck

Kris
