Multiple dwarf angels...

Non stop picking at the acros. And even a taste for a gorgonian! Seriously, ripping polyps off.
Peter, I'm so sorry to hear that this fish is such a little terror :( . Cherubs are usually a good bet. Is the other one behaving?

The other one actually seems to be behaving. Perhaps the small one just was not accustomed to not having acros available, and just adapted to what was nearby. But I will try to catch both...I just won't risk this again. Besides, I think as a pair they would be more desireable, especially now that they are labeled as NON reef safe. :( It's really a bummer.

I suppose your fish is still going after your corals - But sometimes after they settle in they stop, fwiw.

It sure is cute though :( Hard to imagine something that adorable can be so "bad".

I think it started when my corals slimed up after a significant water change. It literally went from a few pecks to constant polyp eating in a period of 3 days. I've never heard of anything like it.

I know, I know...that face. Soooo cute. But they have to go. Of course, I've already had virtually all my other fish in and out of the trap....but no way do the angels go near it. Ugh!!!

Peter,

just a matter of patience - I recently trapped my C. flavissima the same way. But needed 3 days until he trusted.

But I am really surpised as my C.argi never showed any trouble signs

Yes, I am expecting it to take a while. I'm thinking at least a week even. Luckily the angel likes to eat so many different corals, that no one in particular is getting eaten to death at the moment. :rolleye1: The problem seems to be that when the other fish (all larger) go after the food in the trap the angels are scared to even come close to the trap. Perhaps I'll have to bait with a favorite coral  I guess I have to keep a sense of humor about it....

Thanks for the supportive words all. Watching my prized corals get munched on is no easier than watching a fish attack another to death. It just sucks!

Well, everyone feel free to pour yourself your favorite cocktail, because we are celebrating!

Yes, yes, I caught her. Not bad, only 24hrs or so. Though I haven't seen the male pick at anything, I'm still going to try to trap him as well. I'm taking no chances. Plus, I figure a pair of argi's that don't fight will be worth more.

Alright, caught the male today (along with both tangs - that was a mess). Sad to see the angels go, but I'm taking no chances...

glad you caught them SDGUY. This is a good lesson learned. when we choose to chance fish that may not be reef save. We as reef keepers need to decide if we are willing to lose the coral before placing a fish in that can potentially destroy the reef. I am surprised that the cherub is picking. usually they do well. It is the flame and lemon peel which tend to pick. I know I have all three and my flame and lemon peel pick. I love these fish so my choice of coral is mostly things they do not eat. I have found that they love brains and plate coral. they do well in not eating my zoo's mushrooms and softies. I do have torch and frogspawn that they do not touch as well. good luck

The thing is though, it's not like she just had one or two favorite corals. No biggie, just remove those corals. She was ALL OVER the tank, every SPS, gorgonians, the bases of zoas. Should have just dropped a threadfin butterfly in there, LOL. But you are correct, we take chances, and we have to be willing to deal with the consequences.
