Multiple Goby/Shrimp in 180?

180 gallon tank, established almost ten years. Wanting to head in a different direction. What's the most shrimp/goby pairs anyone has seen in a larger tank? Would like to try as many shrimp goby species as I can get away with. No sleeper gobies, seeing I want to get a pair of BSJ's. Deep sand bed in tank and sump, display tank has tight mesh top. Thanks, John. [Loungers comment as well!]

Get balk to the lounge you guys.

John I would think that 2 pairs would be the limit. The pistols build a pretty extensive tunnel system under the rocks and you'd want them as far away as possible to avoid conflict. Also, be sure your rocks on the bottom are secure and firmly placed so that when the tunneling starts, you don't have a rock slide.

I think a pair of gobies and a pistol on each end would be cool. they really are fascinating to watch. My pistol is goby-less right now. :(

But you can have other goby pairs like clown gobies and some blennies :D My shrimp gobies were always relocating and I wouldn't do pairs again because I always worried about the female being getting enough food. Just the shrimp and the fish is enough imho.

They stay small, so let's say they are 3" apiece, you should be able to fit 50 easy.... so 25 pairs?????:wavehand:

Or you could do it the right way and listen to Sugar :lmao:

i would say 2 or 3 sets of shrimps with their gobies. It depends on how much they wonder when trying to find a burrow. I'd add all at the same time so they can establish territories at the same time.

My first pick, Korrine. Nice! I'm taking out a bunch of rock from the 180, and putting it in a spare 55 now. Building towers and caves all over, clearing up the back glass completely. Goby ranch, here we go! Also comtemplating a pair of Flame and Cherubs along with a fish list I've wanted for a long time. Anyone want a big Sohal?

I had 1 pair in a 125g and they burrowed from end to end. One day they would come out for food on the right side, the next day the left. Never saw them "out and about" so all of their travel was underground.

Given that, I am not sure that more than one pair would do the same thing.

I can't believe the inanity on this thread. Who moderates this forum?
