Multiple tangs in tank question

I already have a yellow tang in my tank. A friend (in the freshwater business) is buying a saltwater tank that is up and running, but he is going to strip it down and use it as a freshwater tank. He is offering me the fish which are a clownfish, a regal blue tang, and what looks like a sailfin tang from the picture he sent me. I assume that the sailfin and the yellow will not get along, being conspecifics and all, but will the regal tang be ok with the yellow or should I tell him thanks but no thanks? I love the look of the regal tangs. My tank is small right now, but so is the tang. I will be upgrading soon to a minimum of a 125, hopefully more like a 200. I do have plenty of algae and feed seaweed every three or four days.

Depends on how small of a tank and for how long.

It also depends on the current maturity of the tangs as well. If juvenile, I wouldnt add a sailfin to an existing yellow in less than a 75g, and that only temporarily. If adults, 120g min.

Yup, it's a space thing! I have three zebras in my tank; but it's a 265, and one with plenty of swimming room, so there's space for them to get away from each other. Frankly, I'd not put a Sailfin in anything smaller.

I agree. Most upgrades do not happen so you should acquire fish that can live in the tank you know possess.
